My Approach: DBT-Informed & Psychodynamically Grounded Therapy
If you are looking for a therapy space that balances practical tools for today with deep insight into your past, you are in the right place.
I practice DBT-informed therapy integrated with psychoanalytic psychotherapy. This means I do not offer a standard, rigid Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) program (which requires a separate weekly skills group and 24/7 phone coaching). Instead, I weave components of DBT into a deeply personalized, reflective individual therapy experience.
Traditional DBT is great for helping you survive a crisis and manage overwhelming emotions. Psychoanalytic therapy is incredible for understanding why you feel the way you do and healing root wounds. By bringing them together, we address both your immediate relief and your long-term growth:
DBT Skills give you the "How": We will actively practice tools for mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness so you can navigate daily stressors.
Psychoanalytic Insight gives you the "Why": We will look beneath the surface to explore underlying patterns, relational dynamics, and unconscious roots of your distress.
