I am a psychoanalytic psychotherapist with a special interest for working with people who have experienced complex trauma, relational trauma, addiction, eating disorders and or life long depression and anxiety. I work both in person and online or via telephone. Establishing a warm, trusting and respectful relationship with my clients is important to me as this facilitates a fruitful and creative space in which to work together.
My formal training is in psychoanalytic psychotherapy and took place at the Auckland University of Technology (AUT) in New Zealand, where I gained a Masters degree in Psychotherapy. I have personally undertaken a 10 year Jungian Analysis so I have plenty of experience being on the other side of the couch. I also hold a graduate diploma in Psycho-Social Studies from AUT and a Bachelor of Music from the University of Auckland. My work experience, in addition to private practice, includes counselling and social service roles at youth specific, LGBTQ specific and survivors of sexual violence specific services. I also have extensive experience working with people who have experienced psychosis and or those who have personality disorder traits and diagnoses.
I am a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) and a member of The Canadian Association of Psychodynamic Therapists (CAPT). In my country of origin, I was formally a Registered Psychotherapist with the Psychotherapists Board of Aotearoa New Zealand (PBANZ), and a provisional member of The New Zealand Association of Psychotherapists (NZAP). I am also a member of the International Association of Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy (IARPP).
I am committed to ongoing professional development and training. I prioritise staying informed of current developments in treatment and regularly attending workshops, conferences and e-conferences. I attend regular professional supervision and practise according to the Code of Ethics of the CRPO.
